Broombush
Melaleua uninata R.Br.
Parts Used: The whole plant

Medicinal Uses: Melaleucas have a strong aroma and were used to treat headaches, respiratory problems, coughs, stomach upsets and rheumatic aches and pains. The leaves were chewed to relieve respiratory complaints. Decoctions of the bark were used externally as washes to relieve sores, burns, skin infections and headaches. The whole plant was crushed and mixed with fat to make ointments or salves which were applied to treat muscular aches and arthritis.

Growing Conditions: sandy, loamy and clay soils and prefers well-drained soil
​
Other Uses: This plant was used by colonists to make brush fences.
